Your article , which was fascinating and inspiring, is reminding me of a favorite short story that I read years ago in college. I recently found it again. It's A New England Nun by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman. The main character in the story has a practice of distilling flower essences which she believes she will be required to give up when she marries. We read, "Louisa had a little still, and she used to occupy herself pleasantly in summer weather with distilling the sweet and aromatic essences from roses and peppermint and spearmint. By-and-by her still must be laid away. Her store of essences was already considerable, and there would be no time for her to distill for the mere pleasure of it." I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!

Loved this so much!! My little still nook has been in the works for awhile now and this past weekend I finally started putting it together.
